Whitney Houston was buried Sunday, February 19th after a traditional, spirit-filled funeral the previous day. It seemed so simplistic, compared to the day before. But no matter; she is now next to her Dad, John Houston, for all time. Her family took over and took care of her, as most families would do--without fanfare, without public scrunity. In her death, she remained a superstar, but she also became human.
But, the ugly rumors persists. Its about money--as always. The entertainment shows, who love public specticle, and grind the rumor mill full tilt, because it brings audience members, gave Whitney backhanded salutes. They paid tribute, but also talked about her fighting with the former "X-Factor" candidate, how she was drunk at singer Kelly Price's grammy party, and even showed "blood" running down her leg. No one confirmed any of it, and in talking to Kelly Price, she said none of it was true. Price became described as "a friend protecting a friend." Deborah Norville, who attested that Whitney couldn't sing and put together a show in the 90's showing how they enhance a singer's voice, had nothing but Whitney "news", since the singer's death.Even Nancy Grace, who all but convicted Michael Jackson of child molestation, jumped in the fray, saying who PUSHED Whitney into the tub, and who were the doctors who wrote the prescriptions for "all those drugs" found in Houston's room. From the vendors who sold t-shirts and memorabilia, to the record labels, Whitney is still making money for everyone.
There was even controversy about flying flags have-staff in New Jersey in Houston's honor. I agree that flags should be flown at half-staff for those who lost their lives in service to their nation, city or town. But few remember that Whitney's proceeds from the sale of her rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner", went to veterans. And why not recognize a person who has world-wide recognition who is from your state--and still lived there?
Over the next few weeks, there will be more ugly rumors about Whitney's night out; about Bobby Brown and his relationship with the family;about Bobbi Kristina. And some one, some where, will benefit, will get paid, big time. Even as she rests, just like Michael Jackson, Elvis, JFK and Marilyn Monroe, Whtiney's reputation will never have peace...
